within the artists in the Factory, Fabrizio Carola has conceived in collaboration with Vittorio Ercolano, “Chiocciola punto Giusi”, a real geometric-architectonic challenge, a three-dimensional shell in small hand cut tuff bricks with several functions, an area to quietly work on your computer in a natural environment, an information point, a café…..

Affection and an old friendship are what tie me to Giusi. In 1999, in her gallery the Monday Factory, she took care of the exhibit Napoli Europa Africa displaying photographs and designs of my work in Africa and a choice of objects I designed in the 70’ and the 80’. This winter she told me about her new project, she invited me to a meeting where she illustrated the adjustments and the intentions of the new gallery. I felt immediately involved and I started to think of how I could contribute to it. When she mentioned the thought of a new outdoor seating, I thought of an experiment that I created in 2004 for the port of Forio d’Ischia: a geometric challenge, a brick shell, a three dimensional curved geometry. For the Art Factory I had to think of a multifunctional urban destination, the result was a shape in smaller scale, to be erected in the garden, a shell where one could quietly work on the computer in a natural environment. I named it : CHIOCCIOLA PUNTO GIUSI dedicating this piece of art to its inspirer. It was created in small tuff bricks hand cut with the precious collaboration of two incredible men: Vittorio Ercolano, manufacturer of the piece of art in collaboration with Boris.
